KHANA prioritises strengthening the capacity of communities, stakeholders and other partners. KHANA strives to enhance the utiliisation of technical innovations and increase the knowledge and expertise of all staff in terms of health and development. Khana organised World TB day to raise awareness of the illness, conducted educational meetings and proposed improvements to policy regarding the health of Asia and drug use in Cambodia.

Technical Innovations for Emerging Needs

KHANA investigates and promotes new innovative ways to reach hidden populations and maintain database management systems. In 2018, KHANA launched the DHIS2 system – a technology-based communication tool. This innovative system allowed easy access to data sharing and tracking of individuals enrolled in HIV prevention programs for KHANA and its implementing partners.

In 2018, KHANA continued to evaluate the efficacy of engaging FEWs by introducing short message service or SMS and voice messaging to the SmartGirl clubs to connect FEWs with HIV to important health services. These services included HIV and STI testing, sexual and reproductive health and family planning.

Improving Services for All through Research

KHANA Center for Population Health Research published 11 peer-reviewed journal articles in 2018 that covered a range of issues. Topics focused on adolescents, children, transgender women, social and behavioral factors, HIV knowledge and testing attitudes.

KHANA has also been engaged in many regional and international platforms such as the International AIDS Conference, UN High-level Meeting on TB and Exchange Visits.

The strengthening of KHANA’s staff is a priority to ensure the continual improvement of their professional development. Interaction with international stakeholders encourages staff to identify new strategies and innovations to help support the ongoing projects and their implementations.
