Khmer New Year 2014 falls on 14 April and lasts for three days. KHANA staff members take three holidays from 14 to 16 April during the Khmer New Years and individuals from the province may leave Phnom Penh for their homes there. Usually they bring food, soft drinks, clothes and donations to pay their uncountable gratitude to their parents.

The New Year's Day usually falls on April 14 or 15th, which is the end of the harvesting season, when farmers enjoy the fruits of their labor before the rainy season begins. Khmers living abroad may choose to celebrate during a weekend rather than specifically April 14 through 16th. The Khmer New Year coincides with the traditional solar New Year in several parts of India, Myanmar and Thailand.
