The KHANA Policy and Strategy Unit in collaboration with TS Hub Unit built personal and institutional capacity of community network on Policy and Advocacy and governance to five group networks and they are people from Cambodian People Living with HIV/AIDS Networks (NPN+), Peer Support Group (PSG), Bandanh Chaktomok (BC), FonNPAM, and Entertainment Workers networks (EWN). The workshop was held from 9 to 11 September 2014 at Golden Sand Hotel at Prah Sihanouk province.
Participants were involved in defining what an issue is, the policy, policy issue and advocacy. They learned to identify and analyze their respective issues. The key part of the training on policy and advocacy allowed each group to draw out their annual plan, theory of changes and their policy asks.
During the sessions on governance, participants also discussed their network development and how to improve their respective existing networks and policies. These include identifications of policy gaps within the networks, weaknesses and solutions.
At the end of the workshop, organizers and network representatives agreed to fill in the identified policy gaps and to develop policy asks for their policy advocacy.
