Cambodian Health Minister Awards NGO performers and individuals

Awards are presented by H.E. Dr. Mam Bunheng, Minister of Health, to best NGO performers and individuals for successes related to combating HIV transmission during KHANA’s Annual IP Directors-Meeting on 20 June 2013.

“Each year KHANA selects NGOs, individual NGO personnel, and stakeholders to receive awards for their exceptional performance in supporting people living with HIV. We usually present accreditations during KHANA’s Annual IP Directors Meeting,” said Dr. Oum Sopheap, KHANA Executive Director. “This year, KHANA selected 14 NGOs and 7 individual NGO personnel to receive accreditations. All are partners of KHANA.”

From the proposed lists of awardees from KHANA, the Cambodian Ministry of Health accredits 14 NGOs, all of which are KHANA Implementing Partners, which have best supported people living with HIV (PLHIV), orphans and vulnerable children (OVC), people who use drugs (PWUD), entertainment workers (EW), and clients on methadone maintenance therapy in HIV care and support, HIV prevention, HIV counseling and education, facilitating and providing community based care services, project management, and community-based outreach.

Similar awards are also presented to individuals who have helped with behavior change efforts through HIV care and support, project management and cooperation, HIV prevention, HIV counseling and education, facilitating and providing community based care services, and community based outreach for PLHIV, OVC, EW and PWUD.

This year, KHANA’s Annual IP Directors’ Meeting highlights progress made toward achieving KHANA Strategic Plan 2015 (KSP15) as seen in the midterm review, and updates information related to HIV response, next priorities, and implementation arrangements for 2013. Awarding the Certificates of Appreciation to KHANA’s Implementing Partners and individuals allows KHANA to thank these groups and individuals for their contribution to the achievements of KHANA Strategic Plan 2015 and Cambodia 3.0. The meeting also discusses the boosted standards of package (SOP), the five- year, $30 million USAID- funded HIV Flagship, and new technical innovations under Flagship.
